Summary on the 3rd MaTáSzSz Professional Forum
At the 3rd MaTáSzSz Professional Forum, colleagues from three professional fields discussed the most current issues in their respective areas.
Building on the success of previous years, in 2025 we expanded the number of professional sections within the Forum — in addition to the technical professionals, we also organized professional days for experts from the legal and PR-marketing fields.
The event brought together nearly 150 participants, primarily from middle management.
In addition to the presentations, district heating professionals also collaborated in group work sessions, which provided not only valuable opportunities for information exchange and knowledge sharing, but also for strengthening professional relationships.
Technical Professional Day
The focus of the Technical Professional Day was on development plans related to efficient district heating and the methodologies supporting their preparation.
During the two-day program, the first day covered an overview of the national energy efficiency situation and the practical aspects of project proposal preparation, while the second day focused on topics related to critical infrastructure within the district heating sector and the EKFV.
Participants processed the professional content in structured group work sessions using the World Café methodology.
In his presentation, Balázs Némethi (Head of the MaTáSzSz Technical Committee) provided an overview of the efficiency status of the Hungarian district heating sector, with particular emphasis on the potential of origin guarantees.
György László presented the calculation methodology for preparing action plans, which supports the professional foundation of development projects.
In connection with the Modernisation Fund tenders for district heating, Tibor Lakatos and Gyöngyi Koronczai shared their experiences regarding project planning and preparation.
During the afternoon World Café sessions, participants jointly discussed and analysed the topics presented earlier in the day.
Economic foundations of efficient district heating:
Participants discussed calculation methodologies required for development preparation and the consideration of primary energy ratios.
Increasing the share of renewables:
The group explored the possibilities and limitations of technologies that support achieving renewable energy targets.
Challenges of project proposal preparation:
Attendees shared their experiences about the difficulties in preparing applications for the Modernisation Fund and the uncertainties in related calculations.
On the second day, István Angyal (OKF) and Miklós Gyenis (PÉTÁV Ltd.) presented the critical infrastructure tasks facing the district heating sector from both a regulatory and operational perspective.
Dr. Mária Balogné Pruha introduced the operation of EKFV and the professional background supporting its activities.
The morning concluded with another group session, focusing on collaboration opportunities and the strengthening of knowledge sharing within the sector.
The discussion with the representative of the BM OKF focused on the new regulatory compliance requirements, data provision, and practical aspects of implementation.
PR and Marketing Professional Day
For the first time, PR, marketing, and communication professionals from the district heating sector gathered together — a sign of the growing importance of these areas.
The first day featured presentations about the Night of Power Plants event, the communication activities of MaTáSzSz, and the past, present, and future of the District Heating EcoLabel.
In the fourth presentation, participants received insights and practical advice on how public service providers can effectively manage their presence on social media platforms.
The group work session that followed focused on several key themes:
the importance of in-person events, increasing public awareness of District Heating Day, educating the next generation about district heating, and exploring the potential of chatbot-based quizzes.
The main takeaway of the day was that it is no longer enough to simply do our work well — we must also communicate it effectively.
While traditional communication tools and channels remain important and familiar, the next step lies in enhancing our presence on social media and making better use of the opportunities it offers.
On the second day, six member companies shared their best practices.
The presentations generated even greater interest than the day before, and participants emphasized in their feedback that learning from the experiences of other companies was extremely valuable.
The group discussions were lively and diverse, covering topics such as internal intranet development, corporate rebranding, communication during the commissioning of a biomass power plant, service interruptions, the use of the District Heating EcoLabel, and talent development programs for disadvantaged children.
